Maryam Apaokagi professionally known as Taaooma,(born 28 February 1999)  is a Nigerian comedian, content creator, and cinematographer, Taaooma is an outstanding comedienne who has been very influential in the Nigerian entertainment industry for some years now. Taaooma is an influential entertainer who has gotten many accolades from not only her fans but some recognized bodies. Her awards and honors reflect her skills and hard work in the entertainment industry. In 2019, Taaooma won the “Best Online Comedian of the year” award at the Gage awards. It didn’t stop there, as she also made it to PMNewsNigeria.com’s list of the Top 25 Under-30 Nigerian Superstars. She made it to the number ‘15’ position in the list. She is also among the top Nigerian comedians on YouTube and Instagram.

Taaooma was born on 28th February 1999 in Illorin, Kwara State, located in the western part of Nigeria and pre-dominated by Fulanis. Her mother’s name is Mrs. Aishat Apaokagi.

Taaooma is her stage name which came from an abbreviation of all her real names- Apaokagi Adedoyin Maryam. Born to Mr. and Mrs. Aishat Apaokagi, Taaooma is the last born of 5 children.

Although she is a Nigerian, she had most of her education in Namibia when her parents moved. She attended Amazing Kids Private School & Academy for her primary school education and finished her secondary school at Concordia College in Windhoek, Namibia. Seeing her flourishing career in Arts and entertainment, you might likely guess she had her undergraduate studies in Arts, but, Taaooma returned to Kwara State University, Ilorin, Nigeria where she had her Bachelor’s degree in Tourism and Hospitality.

She completed her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program in July 2020.

CAREER

Taaooma came into the comedy industry not long ago, as she began acting in comedies in 2015. She came in and got the attention of many people which led to her eventual fame. Typically, in her comedy skits, She usually mimics the regular African mother, thereby emphasizing hilarious scenes. Her videos often reflect the approach African mothers respond to the actions of their children.

Taaooma often attributes her entry into the comedy industry to her boyfriend. In an interview with her, she revealed how her beau helped her to harness her talent and encouraged her to start making comedy skits. Taaooma jointly owns a production company called The Grenade Company, with her boyfriend. Recently on 23 September in the year 2022, Taaooma created a comedy health skit, to spread the word on COVID-19 and help inform the country’s populace to curtail the spread of the viral disease. Reactions came out from this piece and on 16 September 2022, she became a trending topic, after the skit had gone viral. This contributed to increasing her popularity, of which her followers grew to 1 million on Instagram. In another related program, Taaooma also spoke about Covid-19 on Inspiring Africa show live on Euronews. In the show, she lay emphasis on African parents who were ignorant about this disease.

PERSONAL LIFE

Another interesting part of the biography of Taaooma is her personal lifestyle. Greene Abdulazeez Oladimeji who is popularly known as Abula According to Taaooma, was her motivation for starting her comedy career Taaooma is married to her long-time boyfriend, who goes by Abula. They got officially engaged in October 2020 and tied the knot on 24th January 2021. They met in Ilorin, Kwara State, during Abula’s NYSC year when Taaooma returned from Namibia for her higher studies in Kwasi. Their love for filming and editing brought them together.
