Beverly Ifunaya Bassey; Popularly known as Beverly Naya (born 17 April 1989) is a British-born Nigerian Actress, Producer, Entrepreneur, and Model. She studied filmmaking at Roehampton University, London, and began acting at the age of 17

Beverly started acting in London when she was 17. Even though she was studying sociology and psychology in school, she switched to drama and script writing at the Roehampton university because she has always been more of a creative person.

In the U.K she did a few short films for the British Broadcasting Corporation and The Metropolitan Police. Beverly also acted in a couple of theatre productions including one by Debbie Tucker-Green, called Stoning Mary, and then Psychosis and Crave.

. Beverly won Most Promising Talent at 2010 Best of Nollywood Awards. She also won the award for Fast Rising Actress at the 2011 City People Entertainment Awards.

Beverly Ifunaya Bassey, who is the sole child of her Nigerian parents, was born in London, the United Kingdom where she grew up. Beverly Naya’s parents are from Ibuzor in Oshimili North local government of Delta State, South-South Nigeria.

Beverly started acting at the age of 17 while attending Brunel University to study philosophy, psychology, and sociology. She proceeded to Roehampton University to pursue and obtained a scriptwriting and filmmaking degree.

CAREER

Beverly began acting at the age of 17 and studied film-making at Roehampton University, London. In the year 2011, Naya was named the “fastest rising actress” in the City People Entertainment Awards in Nigeria, when asked why she returned to Nigeria by Encomium Magazine she said:

After I graduated from university, I just knew that I wanted to act, I knew I wanted to act, and in London, I could shoot a film probably once a year and that’s it. Whereas coming to this industry, I can build a brand as well as shoot films more often and be given a more diverse amount of scripts. So, I decided to come back for that reason

Beverly Naya moved to Nigeria as a result of Nollywood’s explosive growth and the chances it provides for budding performers. She named Genevieve Nnaji and Ramsey Nouah as mentors who inspired her to join Nollywood. Naya received the award of “fastest rising actress” at the City People Entertainment Awards in Nigeria.
