At one point in time, having kids outside wedlock wasn’t seen as ideal but these Nigerian celebrities bucked the trend and live according to their terms by having kids out of wedlock. 1 Linda Ikeji 

Linda Ikeji was born on the 19th of September 1980 to a Catholic parent from Nkwerre, a local government area in the Southeastern state of Imo State. She started writing fictional stories at the young age of 10. Her fascination with news and interviews was what endeared her to pursuing a degree in Mass Communication. Unfortunately, she was admitted to study English at the University of Lagos instead of Mass Communication.

Linda Ikeji received an honorary doctorate degree on the 8th of August 2018 from the Trinity International University of Ambassadors in Georgia for her contribution to African media and business.

The self-made millionaire had a child out of wedlock.  She had a baby boy for her boyfriend who wanted to marry her but later changed his mind after he discovered that Linda Ikeji has so many controversies concerning her lifestyle. Linda Ikeji broke up with him and decided to raise her son as a single mother. However, she has promised to get married again if she eventually finds the right man.

 

2 Waje

 

Aituaje Iruobe best known by her stage name as Waje is a Nigerian singer who was born on September 1, 1980, in Akure, Ondo State, Nigeria. She is the firstborn and the first daughter in her family. She grew up in Benin City,, following her parent’s relocation. Her parents got divorced when she was young, and she had to overcome the difficulty that accompanied her parent’s separation.

Waje is one Nigerian musician whose flawless voice has won her the hearts of many. However, before joining the Nigerian music industry, Waje already had a daughter outside wedlock. During one of her interviews, she revealed that she had her daughter when she was just 17 years old. According to her, she was put in a family way and had to raise her child as a single mother.

3  Genevieve Nnaji

 

Genevieve Nnaji is a Nollywood actress and producer. The actress has a daughter out of wedlock. Genevieve Nnaji had her beautiful daughter when she was still in secondary school. She was put in a family way when she was still in secondary school. Due to that unfortunate incident, she decided never to marry again. She single-handedly raised her daughter into a beautiful young woman. Her daughter is now married.

Genevieve was born as the 4th of the 8 children of an engineer father and a nursery school teacher mother. Although her place of birth is popularly reported to be Mbaise, Imo State, she gave a hint that she was born and bred in Lagos State in a CNN interview. Nonetheless, she is of the Igbo ethnicity from Imo State and had a Catholic upbringing.

Growing up, she attended schools that include Methodist Girls College Yaba, Lagos. To obtain a higher education certificate, Nnaji headed for the University of Lagos, where she obtained a degree in Creative Arts. It was also when she was a student that she began scouting for roles as a young adult in the Nigerian movie industry.

 4 Omawumi

Omawumi was born on the 13th of April 1982 to Chief Dr. Frank and Mrs. Aya Megbele. She attended Nana Primary School for her primary education. Afterward, she went to the College of Education Demonstration Secondary School (CEDSS) for her SSCE. After her SSCE, she went to study Law at Ambrose Alli University. After her law degree in 2005, Omawumi went to work at her family’s law firm – O.S Megbele and Associates in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Omawumi is a talented female musician in Nigeria. Omawumi had a child after the release of her first album in 2011. She however gave birth to a child out of wedlock. In September 2014, Omawumi got married to the father of her child, Tosin Yussuf and it has been a blissful union. Since she got married to Tosin Yussuf she has never had any media scandal concerning her marriage.

5 Clarion Chukwura

Clarion Chukwura is a Nigerian actress, businesswoman, and humanitarian. She is also popular for being the mother of Nigerian music video director, Clarence Peters.

Clarion Chukwura’s full name is Nneka Oluwatoyin Folashade Chukwura. She was born on the 24th of July 1964 in Lagos State as the only daughter in a family of four.

Though she is originally from Anambra State in the South-Eastern part of Nigeria, Clarion was born and bred in Lagos State. From the age of 11 to 14, she stayed in Aba and Onitsha and then relocated to Ibadan and lived there till the age of 19.

Unfortunately, she lost her father at the age of 11 and her already fragile world shattered. According to her, her father was the center of her life and when he died, everything fell apart. It was the beginning of a whole different chapter of her life.

Clarion is a proud mother of Nigerian music video director Clarence Peters whom she had out of wedlock. She was put in a family way when she was still at the University by her boyfriend and the result of that baby is the famous Clarence Peter who is a multiple award-winning music video director and filmmaker.

6 2face Idibia

Innocent Ujah Idibia A.K.A 2Baba is a renowned Nigerian music artist. 2Face started his music career in 1994 and since then has risen gradually to fame winning several awards in music and entertainment.

For those who are not familiar with the name “Innocent Ujah Idibia”, “2Face” or “2Baba” will surely ring a bell. 2Face is a Nigerian-born singer, record producer, songwriter, entrepreneur as well as a philanthropist.

He is one of the most celebrated music artists in Nigeria as he has been consistent over the years with many award-winning songs in the Entertainment Industry.

The superstar is a father to seven children. He had all those children outside marriage with different women. 7 Olamide

Olamide Adedeji was born on the 15th of March, 1989 in Bariga, Lagos State Nigeria. He attended both primary and high schools in Lagos but for his tertiary education, Olamide attended Tai Solarin University of Education where he studied Mass Communication.

Professional music for the talented Yoruba singer began in 2010 with the release of his first single; ‘Eni Duro’ Eni Duro was released under the Coded Tunes record label which Olamide was signed at the time. The song received wide critical acclaim and instantly shot Olamide into the limelight.

8. Ice Prince

He was born Panshak Henry Zamani in Minna, Niger State, on October 30, 1984. He, however, hails from Plateau State and belongs to the Angas ethnic group. He is the only son of the three siblings of his late parents. As a child growing up in the mining and cold city of Jos, he attended a Catholic secondary school, St. Murumba College Jos – the same school P-Square, and Mikel Obi attended.

Along the line, finances were not the strong part of his family, and he had to make ends meet by making palm Sandals and becoming a table attendant at a point. The father of her son has remained unknown and she seems not to be ready to reveal him anytime soon.
