Mrs. Adeyinka Oladimeji, the mother of popular twins skit makers Moyin and Doyin known as ‘twinzlove,’ has opened up about why her husband abandoned her and their children in an interview with BBC Yoruba
She also talked about some of the difficulties she faced when raising her twin girls on her own for the first time. Adeyinka, better known by her stage name Iya Ibeji, revealed that her husband abandoned her and her children when they were just three weeks old. The woman went on to say that her husband had left because she had refused to listen to him when he directed her to place their three-month-old twin daughters in a motherless babies’ home.
She admitted that she initially agreed with him, but that when she arrived at the motherless babies’ home, the staff refused to accept the twins because their mother was still alive, she explained. It was brought to her attention that they had questioned why she wanted to abandon her children in motherless babies’ home when she was still living.
She stated that her husband was still hell-bent on abandoning the motherless babies after she had left the home where the babies were raised. He instructed her to dump the items besides a flower in front of a random house in Alagbaka, Akure, on their way back. She complied. She admitted that she first followed his instructions, but that a part of her could not bear the thought of abandoning her children.
She claimed that her husband set two conditions for her: either dumb the babies and accompany him home, or take the children and end their relationship with them. She stated that she chose the latter, returned to pick up her girls, and her husband then jumped into a taxi and drove away.
Since then, Iya Ibeji has stated that she has been the sole caregiver for her twin daughters. She explained that she had to give up her professional position as a nurse in order to care for her children full time. She explained that she does not have a family member who is supportive, thus most of the work was on her own.
She admitted that she worked a lot of menial jobs simply to make ends meet and provide a good life for her children. She stated that she had faced numerous difficulties, but that she had never given up. She was determined to raise her children with everything she possessed, no matter what the circumstances were.
Iya Ibeji claims that she has no other family except her twins. The couple, she said, are her companions as well as her husband and mother. They are also her soul mate and best friend, as well as her advisor, she added.
Now that they have made a breakthrough and all of her hard work is beginning to bear fruit, Iya Ibeji is happy to proclaim herself the happiest lady on the planet for having Moyin and Doyin as daughters, according to her.
Moyin and Doyin have now been promoted to the position of brand ambassadors and social media influencers, respectively. They recently received their bachelor’s degree from Obafemi Awolowo University, and to top it all off, they recently became homeowners.
